Tips on choosing what your Dreamcatcher should be made of?

If you haven't owned a dreamcatcher and planning to purchase one or a beginner at crafting dreamcatchers, then read the below post to know what type of material would suit your need as different materials have separate way of maintaining artwork to ensure its durability.

This blog will help you to understand what is the ideal material your dreamcatcher should be made of and how to maintain them.
Its not only about how vibrant and beautiful a dreamcatcher looks but also the strength and durability that counts. Durability can be achived only with a combined effort of creating and maintaining any handicraft.
Always place a dreamcatcher order that suits your need. Below are the thread types I have observed and sharing tips about.

▪️Woolen

Dreamcatcher Ring made with wool stays intact for a long time.
Colors of the wool are dyed and so when it is washed it can leak some color but it doesn't fade. Its color stays vibrant even after wash ! Woolen Rings can have Fuzzy woolen pilling so one has to ensure that they are gently handwashed.
Note: Wash is not recommended if two or more separate colors of woolen strings are used to create the dreamcatcher and in such case one can simply clean it with a brush.
Also, Thinner the Wool, lesser the pilling around it. I prefer woolen dreamcatchers for wall decor for its durability and vibrant colors.

▪️Wax thread:

The ends of these thread can be sealed with a flame. These thread offer durability, does not shed, looks neat and has a shining texture.
Great for keychains or daily use dreamcatcher themed accessories, Wall decor.
It does catch dust but can be brushed off.
The only drawback would be light colored threads look dull over a long time.

▪️Leather:

Velvet/Leather can make a dreamcatcher look great. Mostly these are glued to the ring.
When you have a velvet or leather dreamcatcher possibilities are beads and feathers would be glued to it, also Leather shouldn't b washed. Therefore avoid washing them. One can simply brush away the dust that accumulates on them.

▪️Silk:

They are great for small dreamcatcher web design as these strings are thin and can be used with any small beads. Not recommeded for big dreamcatchers as the threads are so thin that it doesn't highlight the visibility of the web.

▪️Jute:

Dreamcatcher rings made of Jute gives a very nice look to it. Make sure the Jute threads are not dyed as these fade color when washed. Thick Jute has the the tendency to shed fibre therefore prefer the thinnest Jute strings.
