When can you wash a Dreamcatcher?

Traditionally Dreamcatchers were made of willow hoop and sinew cords. But today a wide variety of materials are used in making a Dreamcatcher. Therefore it is essential for one to know what material is their dreamcatcher made up of to ensure they can maintain them.
This blog will help you to understand if one should prefer washing their Dreamcatchers or no depending on the materials used.

1. Polished Wood: If the Dreamcatcher ring is a polished/painted wooden ring, then you should choose to dust it gently with a clean dry cloth. Avoid using water to clean painted or polished wooden ring.

2. Paper Ropes: Today a lot of Dreamcatchers come with fancy paper ropes entangled on the ring. If your Dreamcatcher ring is embedded with paper ropes then do not wash them with water as the paper ropes will disintegrate in it.

3. Colourful fabric laces:  If your Dreamcatcher has multiple coloured fabric laces then check if the fabric is dyed with colours. If the laces are dyed with colours then one cannot wash them with water directly. Best is to enquire about it from the person you bought them from.

4. Woolen threads: Avoid using powdered detergent on woolen strings rather use a mild liquid soap and handwash the woolen Dreamcatchers.

5. Leather strings: If your Dreamcatcher is made up of Leather avoid using water and use a dry cloth to clean Dreamcatcher at regular intervals.

6. Glass beads:
There are some types of glass beads that lose its colours when washed. In such a scenario dust the beads with a clean dry cloth to maintain them.

Remember when you can't wash a Dreamcatcher you can simply dust them.

To sum up this article, I would say Dreamcatchers are not meant to be permanent or perfect because it teaches us that everything in life is temporary no matter for how long you maintain them.
